Likely they just want to focus on Steam release, workshop support first, and then, when all issues be sorted out, add linux support. I think the point that is trying to be made here is that Linux support already exists in the core game, and we just want to see it on steam/itch.

You work with Santa and his elves in Santa’s Workshop, meeting friends along the way like Gingerbread Jr. and Edmund the Elf. Mr. Stink is stealing the toys from the workshop and you have to help Santa and his Super Friends to get the toys back.

Santa’s Super Friends includes three skill levels and 60 levels of play. As you succeed, you’ll be rewarded with virtual Christmas tree ornaments you can use to decorate your own virtual Christmas tree.
